GATORS PICK UP COMMITMENT FROM HIGHLY COVETED LOUISIANA LB

It may not be the Swamp, but its still familiar habitat as the Florida Gators pick up a big commitment from the Bayou in Patterson, LA outside linebacker Lorenzo Phillips.  Phillips is ranked the 4th top prospect in the State of Louisiana by Scout.Com.  His former Patterson teammate, RB Kenny Hilliard, was one of the top running backs in the nation last year and will be a freshman at LSU this season.  I'm sure it won't be long before two former teammates will be butting heads in what is usually one of the biggest games of the season.   Here is a link to YouTube highlights of Lorezo Phillips:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5SwkNASyrg

Billy Gomila: On who are the SEC’s best returning offensive linemen?

New Alabama RB duo to feature strong Gulf Coast presence.

Nick Saban may not be coaching at LSU anymore, but he is still finding success recruiting in South Louisiana.  One of those prized recruits is RB Eddie Lacy.  The Geismar native and Dutchtown High Alum is expected to fill in for the departed Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram, and form a new powerful backfield combination with Penscalola native Trent Richardson.   Here is portion of an article by Larry Burton from bleacherreport.com about the high expectations for Lacy.

Why Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy May Be Better Than Ingram and Richardson

Larry Burton (Syndicated Writer)Mark Ingram won a Heisman Trophy and a national championship with Trent Richardson as his running mate. They were quite a one-two punch together.
But those close to the program think that the Richardson-Eddie Lacy duo may put up bigger and better numbers and go down as the best duo in recent history

SEC roots run deep for Florida's Muschamp

Daily News
SANDESTIN – It was really just a matter of time for Will Muschamp. He was the defensive coordinator and heir-apparent to the head coaching throne at Texas behind Mack Brown, but jumped when Florida gave him the opportunity to return to the SEC as a first-time head coach.
Muschamp’s SEC roots run deep.
He has spent 12 years in the league, including four as a player at Georgia and eight coaching at Auburn as a graduate assistant first in ’95 and returning as defensive coordinator in ’06. But before that he was hired as a linebackers coach by Nick Saban at LSU in 2000, and by 2001 Saban gave him the defensive coordinator job.
